Director, Forsythe Business Continuity Solutions

Michael Croy brings more than 30 years of experience in building, developing and implementing disaster recovery and business continuity programs for U.S. and global organizations. As Forsythe’s business continuity practice director, Croy is responsible for the company’s business continuity offerings, including risk analysis, best practice models for continuity of IT infrastructure (storage, server and network), and disaster recovery planning, strategy and management.

Prior to joining Forsythe, Croy helped build Comdisco’s business continuity practice during his eight years as global director of trading floor continuity for the Rosemont, Illinois-based IT solutions provider and disaster recovery services company.  In this position, Croy also managed the acquisitions and mergers of multiple firms specializing in business continuity and disaster recovery for financial services. After the acquisitions were complete, Croy developed methodologies utilizing the acquired firms to create an innovative business continuity offering on behalf of Comdisco for both U.S. and European markets.

Croy spent 12 years in various roles including senior systems engineer, manager, and director of systems engineering for Minneapolis-based Network Systems Corp.  His technology industry expertise also includes sales and engineering experience with Storage Technology Corp., Universal Safety Equipment, and the Stewart-Warner Corp.

Croy is a frequent speaker at a variety of IT risk management forums and conferences, including national Disaster Recovery Journal, Association of Contingency Planners (ACP), CIO Summits and Continuity Insights conferences. Croy has been quoted and published in highly regarded IT and BC/DR trade publications.

Croy also serves on the Disaster Recovery Journal executive council. Croy has served as an expert source on business continuity and disaster recovery issues to the Technology Executives Club as well as the Society for Information Management (SIM), of which he is also a member. He recently published his first book, Are We Willing to Take That Risk, which discusses the critical issues surrounding business continuity while emphasizing the human element, drawing parallels between decisions about risk and reward in life and in business.

Croy earned a bachelor’s degree in business from George Williams College in Downers Grove, Illinois.
